Have you ever wondered why salon products are available only in a salon?

Have you also wondered why you have been able, at times, to find your favorite salon products in a discount house at greatly reduced price? The answer to both of these questions lies in understanding how the products are marketed, and how the quality of them is thereby ensured.

Salon Products are to be sold exclusively to salons. (This statement is marked on the products, usually by the product codes.) However, there are times when another company can come along and purchase the products, and then resell them through mass-market chain stores.

This is called "product diversion ."

What you may not know is that salons are very careful to ensure that products are fresh, genuine, and safe to use, i.e. free from harmful amounts of bacteria. Discount stores are not so careful.

Salons always guarantee their products and will always exchange the products or give a full refund. In addition, products you purchase from us go toward a fund for your stylist's ongoing education.

Do yourself and all those you love a favor, and be sure to purchase your favorite shampooing and styling products directly from your salon. We know the true origin of our products.

Salon products found at a discount store are discounted for a reason (and most of the time they are the same price, if not more). They could be expired, counterfeit, or full of harmful bacteria.

Remember: Let the Buyer Beware.

Local Salon Helps Katrina Devastated Salon Rebuild

NEENAH, WI, March 23, 2006 – Hurricane Katrina cost former Michigan native Donald Bryson his home and livelihood. His hair salon and home in New Orleans were completely devastated, but his story was by no means an exception. And although it’s been several months since the disaster, for many business owners, it’s not getting any easier. The Louisiana Weekly and MSNBC.com reported recently that business owners are having great difficulty rebuilding and resuming business since Katrina.

Jeanne Mykel, co-owner of the Hair Connection, learned of Bryson’s plight online through Behind the Chair, a leading cosmetology website, where she found story after story of salon owners who had lost their businesses due to the hurricane. Mykel and co-owner Connie Koehnke decided to help Bryson get back on his feet by donating six hair stations and supplies left over from their recent renovation.

The equipment and supplies will allow Bryson to resume operations of the Bryson International Hair Color Salon. He’s thankful for the help, saying, “… once again, people I did not know came to support me. If it was not for the kindness and all the support of the Hair Connection, my ‘family’ in the hair care business, what or where would I have been?”

Finding transportation for the donated equipment was a challenge, but McCrory Furniture in Oshkosh provided the solution. McCrory’s included Bryson’s equipment with a truckload of customer-donated home furnishings destined for a nearby church.

The Hair Connection, located at 1315 S. Commercial St., Neenah, offers affordable hair styling for the whole family, full-service tanning, and professional nails. Their commitment to the community includes providing complementary haircuts and hair care products to the Christine Ann Center, Harbor House and Candlelight Vision.

Hair Connection Remodels Historic Building –
Celebrates Grand Re-opening with Complete Makeover

NEENAH, WI, February 7, 2006 – They could move or they could renovate, but one thing was certain: the Hair Connection needed more room and a new look. Jeanne Mykel and Connie Koehnke, owners of the Hair Connection, made the decision to stay put and renovate, and they’re glad they did.

“Our clients were wonderful,” said Mykel. “Our builder worked around the salon’s schedule. We did an extensive remodeling and only had to close for two days. Everyone stayed upbeat and friendly throughout the entire process.”

Bricks were salvaged from a demolished wall so that the 96-year old building’s original façade could be retained. But the interior received a total makeover.

A spacious, new reception area, handicap accessible styling station, restroom and office now grace a ground level. Walls were moved and new equipment was added on the main level. A professional interior designer pulled it all together, adding the style that Mykel and Koehnke were looking for. “We wanted our salon to feel warm, friendly and up-to-date,” says Mykel. “We know and greet our customers by name, and we pride ourselves on being on the leading edge of style. Now our salon looks the part.”

To kick-off the salon’s grand re-opening celebration, the Hair Connection awarded a free “total makeover” to one lucky contestant. The makeover will be revealed during the Morning Show on February 11th, from 8 am – 9 am, on CBS Channel 5. The makeover recipient will receive a new hairstyle, makeup and professional nails.

Visitors to the Hair Connection between February 11th – 18th are eligible to participate in drawings for free tanning, makeup and retail prizes. All gifts will be awarded February 18, 2006.
